STEEL – Old Clips from the Sunset Strip
Circa about 2007 I think. We were “on” that night.
Circa about 2007 I think. We were “on” that night.
I wrote this song pretty quickly the other night. It’s about Occupy Wall Street and the state of America in general. This stuff had been on my mind lately and it was a relief to finally stumble upon the inspiration to put it in to a song. Check out the lyrics below, definitely the cleverest thing I’ve written in a while.
If excessive force surprises you in the least
Then you must not have experience with the police
You can riot all night until people die
Just make sure you’re inside of a Best Buy
Yeah there’s lots and lots of reasons to cry
But that don’t mean there’s not a reason to try
That don’t mean there’s not a reason to try
Don’t have to give it any credit
Just don’t say you don’t get it
So sick of hearing about left and right
While every problem hides in plain sight
This aggravation’s got a broad side
Deeper than people sleeping outside
Get the truth less far away
What’s happening now is not ok
So quit pretending these are end times and
Throw them in jail for all these high crimes
The biggest theft in the history of money
I don’t think people saying so is very funny
And I hate hippies as much as the next guy but
But that don’t mean there ain’t a reason to try
That don’t mean there’s not a reason to try
I save it up and they just give it away
For zero interest and subsidized dismay
It ain’t the wealth itself that bothers me much
It’s how, when you’ve got it you’re so out of touch
Plenty of more of the same in store cause
Barry turned out to be a corporate whore,
But that don’t mean there ain’t a reason to try
That don’t mean there’s not a reason to try
